How a disposable inbox works

An address is waiting when the page loads. No signup, no password, no email address needed to get an email address.
Paste it wherever you would rather not use your real one. Signup walls, download gates, one-off newsletters, trial accounts.
Mail shows up here in about a second. The page holds an open connection, so there is nothing to refresh — though there is a button if you like buttons.
It deletes itself after an hour. The address, the inbox and every message in it. Press Extend for another hour, up to 24, or New Inbox to start over immediately.

What people use a throwaway email address for

Getting past signup walls. The PDF, the discount code, the "create an account to continue" form.
Free trials and one-time verifications. Confirm the link, get in, move on.
Keeping the real inbox clean. A single leaked address is how one signup turns into years of marketing mail.
Testing your own software. Registration flows, password resets, transactional email templates — without polluting a real mailbox or waiting on a colleague. There is a REST API for automating exactly this.
Not handing a stranger your identity. Your real address is a stable key that links accounts together across every database it lands in. A temporary one is not.
